Geographer Kenneth Hewitt coined the term 'classquake' in examining the 1976 earthquake in Guatemala that cost the lives of 23,000 people, because of the accuracy with which it struck down the poor. Haiti today is much worse, compounded by decades of globalization and U.S. intervention. |
